The former President of the Government and President of FAES, José María Aznar, and the members of the Bussola Institute’s Honorary Board have met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO headquarters in Brussels. The challenges the transatlantic relationship faces and the dialogue with North African and Middle Eastern countries have been some of the topics about which they have spoken.
Aznar has chaired the Advisory Council of the Bussola Institute since its creation in 2017. This is an initiative that seeks to promote cultural exchange in order to strengthen relations between the East, especially the countries of the Persian Gulf, and the West. Other participants in the Council include former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen; former German President Christian Wulff; former Irish Prime Minister John Bruton; former European Commissioner Anna Diamantopoulou; and former Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, among others.
