José María Aznar, the Spanish President that brought Spain to the euro as a founding member, assesses this historic moment at the time of celebration of its 20th anniversary of its entry into force. From the analysis of the difficulties of that challenge, he concludes by saying that the achievement would not have been possible with Pedro Sánchez's government: "Spain would not have arrived on time".

In these statement to the newspaper 'El Mundo', Aznar explains how the hard process was to achieve it and the unpopular measures he had to adopt without a parliamentary majority.
