NATO, new FAES Freedom Award

/17.12.18/.- 18.12.18.- The Board of Trustees of the FAES Foundation, at the proposal of its President, José María Aznar, has unanimously ratified in an ordinary meeting the awarding of the 9th FAES Freedom Award to NATO. With this award, FAES expresses its recognition to the fundamental work that the Atlantic Alliance carries out in defense of freedom and to the determining role that it will have to play in the near future facing new threats.

Apertura del curso 2016-2017 del Instituto Atlántico de Gobierno

/18.10.16/.- 18.10.16.- El expresidente del Gobierno y presidente de la Fundación FAES, José María Aznar, ha inaugurado hoy junto a Manuel Pizarro el curso académico 2016-2017 del Instituto Atlántico de Gobierno, el centro de enseñanza superior que fundó y preside desde 2014. En sus palabras de bienvenida, ha recordado el propósito del IADG, dedicado a la formación de excelencia en materia de gobierno. “Estamos construyendo para España y para el ámbito atlántico un foro abierto, transversal y de referencia, en lo que se refiere al ejercicio del poder político en las sociedades democráticas, en las que quieren serlo y en las que deben esforzarse para no dejar de serlo”. Aznar ha afirmado además que “nuestro Máster en Gobierno, Liderazgo y Gestión Pública ha adquirido una dimensión atlántica real y en su segunda edición participan veintisiete alumnos de diez países”.

/30.05.16/.-  El Instituto Atlántico de Gobierno, IADG, centro de enseñanza universitaria superior creado y presidido por José María Aznar, ha celebrado su I Semana Atlántica, un encuentro de máximo nivel académico, empresarial, cultural y político que ha abordado temas clave relativos a las nuevas tecnologías, la economía, la energía, la cultura, la seguridad y la educación, entre otros. 

Aznar opens the Atlantic Business Forum of the Johns Hopkins University  

/05.06.15/.-  José María Aznar has opened today, in Estoril, the first Atlantic Business Forum that the Atlantic Basin Initiative (ABI) organises within the framework of the Johns Hopkins University. Aznar, who chairs the initiative, referred during his speech to the need to rethink what we have traditionally understood as the Atlantic area, including the four continents of the basin, North and South America, Europe and Africa. The Atlantic Business Forum, which will be closed tomorrow by the Prime Minister of Portugal, Pedro Passos Coelho, addresses issues relating to business and trade in the Atlantic Basin, the second area of the white paper that ABI launched last year. During the program, more than sixty political and business leaders from around the world and members of the initiative will analyse the economic dynamics of the Atlantic hemisphere, trade growth and the new opportunities that it offers.

/04.07.14/.-  José María Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain and President of the FAES Foundation, launched today at the 2014 FAES Campus the A New Atlantic Community: Generating Growth, Human Development and Security in the Atlantic Hemisphere white paper, set in motion by the Atlantic Basin Initiative, chaired and launched by Aznar at the Centre for Transatlantic Relations of the Johns Hopkins University, of which he is a distinguished fellow. The paper calls for the redefinition of a new Atlantic community that includes South America, Central America and the Atlantic countries in Africa, based on the common values of democracy and freedom and that is well-positioned in the world.

/07.04.14/.-  José María Aznar has presented in Brussels the white paper developed by the Atlantic Basin Initiative (ABI), A New Atlantic Community: Generating Growth, Human Development and Security in the Atlantic Hemisphere. The presentation took place during a meeting with the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Durao Barroso. The Initiative, which is headed and promoted by Aznar in the framework of the Center for Transatlantic Relations of the Johns Hopkins University, calls in this white paper to action in order to redefine a new Atlantic community which is well placed in the world, erasing the invisible line dividing the South and the North Atlantic and thus including the cooperation with Latin America and Africa.
